Gift question: did you like the wedding-themed glass picture frames you got?

Question: You know the ones ... clear glass frames with sculpted rosettes, swirly flowers, ribbony twists, festooned with bells or doves, surrounding a black and white photo of a beaming bride and groom. They take up a whole corner of the Mikasa store. Newlyweds can expect to get at least a couple of these, whether they register for them or not. They can best be described as ubiquitous. Former brides and grooms, did you like receiving these? Or would you secretly have preferred something else?

Answer: Heck no. I hated that picture frame about as much as the stupid cut crystal punch bowl we got. Completely clashes with our home and have no use for it....besides the fact that those glass frames are HORRIBLE for pics from an archival standpoint. We got three. Two I was able to return for store credit, one was custom engraved and has a lovely place in a box in the garage. Sorry folks but registry is there for a reason, you buy off the registry you take the risk I don't like it and deal with it. I appreciate the gesutre but in that case they were definately not thinking about the tastes of me or my fiancee.
