Question: I hear teacup and mini all the time. please someone explain this? are they registered with AKC or UKC as Teacup? I know the minis are or most anyways but a Teacup? I dont breed teacup or mini anything.
Answer: There is no such thing as a teacup anything; this is all just a marketing ploy to sell runt like dogs at high end prices. Dogs that are bred to remain so small have many health problems due to the small size of their organs, etc. Please do not breed for this as it is no compliant with any breed standard. And also please do not purchase a puppy described as such. There are mini's in some breeds. Please check www.akc.org for all breed standards.
