Alexandrite synthetic or Lab made Color Change?

Question: Does a lab made or Synthetic Alexandrite have drastic color change? Can you elaborate? Are they mostly purple to blue or green? How much are the lab made alexandrites worth? Is there any way to tell if a stone is real or not?

Answer: Both will show change. Lab grown are more likely to have a significant amount. Naturals are more variable as their growth is dependent on available sources of necessary constituents, however IMHO the naturals show an almost aura like change as opposed to the refraction of the lab ones.
